This is a mandatory training programme for all staff within the Adult Social Care and Health department and Independent Providers who have completed a Safer People Handling or Safer People Handling Refresher training course 2 years ago.
A half-day session to update staff with regards to current practice and the legal requirements for safe moving and handling. The session will review the responsibilities of employers and employees and examine any new equipment.
During the training course delegates will be required to participate in safer people handling techniques. Delegates will carry out a number of practical exercises in order for the trainer to fully assess competency.
Delegates must arrive for the training 'Fit to Attend', and be wearing clothing, which allows adequate movement. In addition, full, flat shoes or trainers must be worn (no open toe shoes, ballet shoes or high heels). If for any reason a delegate is unable to participate in all activities required (due to unsuitable clothing or ill health) they will be asked to leave the session and return to workplace.
